Dr. Chantal Lorio discusses Wound Care. A wound a generally healthy person can develop an infection or experience delayed healing. If a diabetic or person with poor circulation has a non-healing wound, they should see their doctor immediately. Poor circulation can cause a wound not to heal properly because wounds need oxygen and blood flow to heal. Typically a wound takes about 2 weeks to heal. Non healing wounds should be treated by a doctor. It is best to cover wounds to keep bacteria and dirt out. Pressure ulcers are also discussed. These types of wounds typically develop on bed bound patients.
